NEW STUDY SHOWS YOGA AND PRANAYAMA PROMISING FOR DEPRESSION TREATMENT

Published in The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, a new study investigated whether pranayama (breathing techniques) could provide effective additional treatment to those with major depressive disorder (MDD) and did not respond to antidepressant treatment alone.

 

At the conclusion of the two month study, patients with MDD who engaged in Sudarshan Kriya yoga (SKY), while continuing their antidepressant treatment, showed significant improvement.
