Yogic tradition has long recognized the benefits of breath work on the body and mind. An entire limb of the Eight Limbs of Yoga – Pranayama (Yogic Breathing) – is dedicated to the importance of the breath, and yoga practitioners frequently report that breath work leads to reduction in stress, and quieter and more focused minds.
A recent study, published in the BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, presents scientific evidence that yogic breathing alters people at the molecular level and may reduce inflammation in the body.
