Stacey McFadin is a New York based Yoga Alliance RYT-200, certified prenatal and postnatal yoga teacher, and graduate of the New York University School of Law. Her first career was as a professional dancer and dance teacher - performing for over a decade, teaching tap and jazz, and introducing fifth graders to ballroom dance as a teaching artist through American Ballroom Theater's "Dancing Classrooms" program (if you look closely, you might catch a glimpse of her in the hit documentary Mad Hot Ballroom).
Then she went to law school, and as an attorney began to experience anxiety, weight gain, and insomnia. She began practicing yoga in 2008 to restore balance to her body and mind. “When I transitioned to law I found that I was craving movement in my body and sanity in my mind – yoga was a great solution for both. I fell in love with yoga immediately – I often tell people that in my yoga practice I feel as though I am dancing on my mat.” As time passed, Stacey felt an overwhelming call to return to her movement and teaching roots, and to support others in their exploration of yoga.
As a yoga instructor, Stacey draws upon her experience as a dancer and emphasizes alignment, musicality, and flow. Her classes also incorporate mindful attention on the breath, having learned how nourishing and restorative breath work can be.
When she is not teaching vinyasa, slow flow, prenatal, postnatal, and restorative around New York City, Stacey volunteers with the non-profit Exhale to Inhale, teaching trauma-informed yoga to survivors of domestic abuse.
